Greenfield Library concludes successful Summer Story Hour

Once school is out, there is nothing many kids look forward to than Summer Story Hour at their local public library.
Greenfield Public Library held four sessions this summer with the theme being Dino-rific Readers. They had 14 children attending the first session, 14 on the second, 18 on the third and an amazing 25 on the fourth and final session on Thursday, June 26.
Library Board Chairman Amy Turpin was both the reader and the craft lady, but said she couldn’t have done it without some amazing help.
“I had some great student helpers this year,” she said. “The parents and grandparents pitched in too.”
On the last day, however, the kids were treated to a very special person doing the craft with them – Tami the Art Lady.
“Miss Tami volunteered to be part of our last session and we thank her for donating her time and having fun with us,” Turpin said. “Tami had the kids trace their arm and hand to make a dinosaur head and neck.”
The last day was all about dinosaurs. Both stories were about dinosaurs and donuts so they had donuts for a snack. They also gave away free books and reading prizes
Turpin said all in all their grand finale was a grand success.
“It may have been a little chaotic at times, but with 25 kids of all ages attending, I think they were terrific,” Turpin said. “They were great listeners during the stories, showed creativity with Miss Tami, were patient waiting turns to choose a prize and free book.
Turpin said she wanted to thank her faithful and fantastic helpers, including: Leah and Mara Wood, Brooklyn Schild, Sophie Lamb, Gracin Costello and Bristol Harper.
“To the parents, grandparents, sitters and anyone who got the kids to the library and pitched-in when needed – you are very much appreciated,” Turpin said.
