At this rate, the Illinois Department of Corrections will have to have a special Greene County wing for all of those charged with and pleading guilty to drug related offenses in the county.
The latest to add his name to the residency list is 41-year-old Justin L. Livingston. According to Greene County States Attorney Craig Grummel, Livingston was sentenced to five years in the IDOC following his conviction for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 1 felony.
Livingston admitted to knowingly possessing more than 15 grams but less than 100 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine in Greene County on or about Aug. 4, 2024.
The case was heard by Greene County Circuit Court Judge Zachary Schmidt and Livingston was represented by Attorney Elliott Turpin. He received the five year sentence on July 7.
“I want the people of Greene County to know that we are committed to fighting the ongoing methamphetamine crisis,” Grummel said. “These drugs fuel crime, destroy lives and tear families apart. My office will continue to seek meaningful prison sentences for those trafficking or possessing meth in our community.”
Grummel also extended his gratitude to the White Hall and Roodhouse Police Departments for their work investigating and arresting Livingston.
“This case was made possible through the diligence and cooperation of both agencies and I thank them for their continued commitment to keeping our communities safe,” Grummel said.
