A list released recently by the Brown University Department of Public Health named the most vulnerable Illinois nursing homes that would be threatened with closure by the recently passed cuts to Medicaid funding as part of the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
While no Pike County facilities are listed, two area skilled nursing homes are included on the list – Camp Point’s Timber Ridge Nursing Home and Jacksonville’s Arcadia Care.
The facilities at the highest level of risk of closure are those that provide care to a disproportionately high percentage of medicaid recipients.
Other healthcare facilities that treat high percentages of patients receiving medicaid benefits could also be threatened.
According to the financial team at Blessing Hospital, which owns Illini in Pittsfield, hospital-specific impact calculations have not yet been seen.
“They believe that the bill is so complex that experts in hospital care on the national/state levels are still trying to figure out the impact,” Blessing Health Systems communication coordinator Steve Felde said.
Felde said Blessing leaders continue to monitor and research the situation and will keep the public updated when more information is available.
