There were quite a few young ladies who attended the Greenfield Public Library’s one-day Safe Sitter Course last week. Instructor Vicki Walker and Carlinville Area Hospital and Clinics provided the informative, interactive and practical Safe-Sitter course – a nationally recognized program for preparing young people to be responsible babysitters. The group of 10 girls who attended were extremely willing to learn and participate in all of the activities, including diaper changing, childcare safety, behavior management, choking rescue, CPR basics, job screening, setting wages and other topics. They all graduated and now have their certificates of completion. Here, they learn how to perform the Heimlich Maneuver for a child or adult who is choking. (Submitted photo)
