Sarah R. Baumgartner, 45, was sentenced on Aug. 11 in Greene County Circuit court on two separate felony cases. Baumgartner admitted a Petition To Revoke Probation to one count of False Report of Offense, a Class 4 Felony, in case 21-CF-86, and one count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 Felony, in case 24-CF-53.
In case 21-CF-86, Baumgartner admitted to knowingly transmitting a false report to the Carrollton Police Department on or about April 23, 2021, falsely claiming that a crime had been committed, knowing there was no reasonable ground for believing an offense had been committed.
In case 24-CF-53, Baumgartner admitted to knowingly possessing less than five grams of a substance containing methamphetamine on or about May 11, 2024, in Greene County.
In both cases, Judge Zachary Schmidt sentenced Baumgartner to two years in the Illinois Department of Correction with credit for time served.
“This case demonstrates our continued commitment to holding offenders accountable for both crimes of dishonesty and drug offenses in our community,” Greene County State’s Attorney Craig M. Grummel said.” We will not tolerate actions that undermine law enforcement or threaten public safety.”
State’s Attorney Grummel extends his appreciation to the Carrollton Police Department, the Greenfield Police Department, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office for their thorough investigations and assistance in bringing these cases to a successful conclusion.
