Two Greene County residents died just hours apart in separate incidents Saturday afternoon.
According to the Greene County Scanner page, Emergency Medical Services personnel and the White Hall Fire Department were dispatched to a rural White Hall resident at around 12:51 p.m. Saturday for a male subject that had been mowing near a creek when the mower he was riding on toppled over and rolled on top of him into the creek.
The caller who reported the incident said they were unsure if the victim was still breathing and they could not remove the victim from under the mower. At 12:58 p.m., White Hall Fire stated that CPR was in progress.
Later that evening, Greene County Coroner Brady Milnes issued a press release stating that 53-year-old Colby Brooks, of rural White Hall, was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m., with preliminary findings indicating he succumbed to traumatic asphyxiation after being ejected from the lawnmower he was operating.
Two hours later, at 3:57 p.m., Milnes issued another press release confirming the death of 68-year-old Charles Huff of rural Rockbridge who was involved in an ATV accident, in rural Rockbridge.
Preliminary findings indicate he succumbed to injuries from blunt force trauma after being ejected from the ATV he was operating.
Greene County EMS, Greenfield Fire, Carrollton Fire and Survival Flight 5 were dispatched for this accident at 3:01 p.m. with a report of a male subject not breathing. Dispatch attempted to guide CPR but the caller was having difficulty.
Both deaths remain under investigation by the Greene County Coroner and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
