Missouri Prairie Foundation Native Plant Sale in Godfrey on September 13
Native plants beautify landscapes and help support songbirds and other cherished wildlife. A wide variety of native wildflowers, grasses, sedges, vines, shrubs, and trees supplied by three Grow Native! professional members will be available for purchase at a Missouri Prairie Foundation native plant sale organized in partnership with The Nature Institute, 2213 S. Levis Lane, Godfrey, IL 62035 on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Grow Native! professional member vendors at this event include Green Thumb Nursery, River City Natives, and Sam’s Native Nursery. Native plants will also be sold by The Nature Institute. All vendors will donate a portion of their sale proceeds to benefit the conservation work of the Missouri Prairie Foundation.
“We encourage homeowners to plant natives because they are important to the health and biodiversity of the environment. Native plants benefit everyone. They serve as a vital food source for pollinators, provide great habitat for fireflies and native bees, and are beautiful, which is a benefit for homeowners. The missions of The Nature Institute and the Missouri Prairie Foundation run parallel, just like the river between us. The work we do is important because it informs the public about the importance of our native habitats and provides opportunities for the public to work alongside us in the effort to bring nature back,” said Ramona Pollard, Director of Outreach with The Nature Institute.
Some vendors accept cash, check, or credit cards; some only cash or checks. Shoppers may begin browsing product selections, making purchases, and picking up pre-orders from each vendor at the advertised start time. “Early birds” will be asked to wait until the advertised start time to begin shopping.
