Brycen Bloxam scored in the seventh inning, and West Central beat Brown County 9-8 in junior high softball Aug. 27 at Bluffs.
Brown County led 8-7, but the Cougars scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game.
Brock Fuhler doubled and reached third with one out in the seventh inning. Pinch runner Brycen Bloxam scored on a walk and tied the game.
Colby Pratt retired Brown County in order in the top of the seventh to set up the bottom of the inning.
Knox Vortman reached on an error to lead off the inning, and Bloxam came in to pinch run. Jordy Ray singled, and Easton VanTuyle grounded out to move the runners to second and third.
Maddox Chapman singled to drive in Bloxam with the winning run.
West Central scored two runs in the second inning. They added one in the third and four in the fourth.
The Cougars took advantage of four walks and a hit batter and led 2-0 after two innings. Mayson singled, reached second on an error, stole third base and scored on a ground out by Colby Pratt in the third.
Brown County tied the game with three runs in the top of the fourth inning, but the Cougars answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Van Tuyle singled in the fourth inning, advanced on to third on passed balls and scored on a single by Chapman. Vortman singled and drove in two runs later in the inning as West Central took a 7-3 lead.
Brown County scored two runs in the fifth inning and three in the sixth to take a one run lead.
Chapman went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs in the game.
Vortman went 1-for-3, scored one run and drove in two runs. Alexander went 1-for-3 and scored two runs. Fuhler went 1-for-3 with a double and scored one run. Van Tuyle went 1-for-3 and scored one run.
Bloxam scored two runs, and Pratt drove in one run. Jace Fryman scored one run and drove in one run. Ray went 1-for-3.
