On August 12, at approximately 9:42 p.m., the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a Burglary Alarm going off at a pharmacy located in the 100 block of S. County Road, Hardin, Calhoun County, Illinois.
Law Enforcement Officials from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office immediately responded to the area and were met by several witnesses who indicated they saw a suspect climb out of the window of the pharmacy and flee from them on foot.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Illinois Conservation Police, combed the area through the night but were unable to locate the suspect.
Chief Deputy Zach Hardin photographed and processed the crime scene and conducted an intensive investigation which resulted in the confirmation of the identification of the suspect through multiple eye-witnesses.
Subsequently, on August 18, the Calhoun County State’s Attorney’s Office issued a Warrant of Arrest for Tyler M Buckingham, aged 24, of Bethalto, Illinois for the offense of Burglary.
On August 23, Buckingham was arrested by the Alton Police Department for his outstanding Calhoun County warrant, in addition to other charges relating to offenses committed in Alton, Illinois.
Additionally, on August 25, the Calhoun County State’s Attorney’s Office issued additional charges, which stemmed from an unrelated drug investigation conducted by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office; the additional offenses are as follows:
Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine (Less than 5 Grams),
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the citizens who assisted in the investigation, as well as the Illinois Conservation Police and the Alton Police Department.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
