Carrollton scored a fourth quarter touchdown and beat West Central 15-12 in football Friday, Sept. 19 at home.
The Cougars (2-2, 1-1 in WIVC South) host Calhoun (4-0, 2-0) Friday at 7 p.m.
West Central trailed 9-6 at halftime. They scored in the third quarter and led 12-9.
Ozly Walker recovered a fumble on Carrollton’s first play from scrimmage in the third quarter.
Ryker Ford scored on a 1-yard run to cap off a 56-yard drive and give West Central the lead with 3:45 remaining in the third quarter.
Carrollton came back and scored on a 44-yard pass play with 11:02 remaining in the game.
The game was scoreless after one quarter before West Central scored the first points of the game.
Tucker Arnold intercepted a pass, and the Cougars had a first down at their own 9-yard line.
Eli Crain had a two-yard on first down before taking the next handoff 89 yards for a touchdown with 9:34 remaining in the second quarter.
Carrollton tied the game on a 15-yard pass with 2:42 remaining in the quarter.
Carrollton got the ball back with less than one minute remaining in the first half. They completed a 36-yard pass play and kicked a 28-yard field goal on the last play of the first half.
Carrollton finished with seven first downs and 181 yards of offense in the game. They rushed for just three yards on 20 attempts and completed 13 of 21 passes for 178 yards.
The Cougars had 15 first downs and 319 yards. They rushed for 287 yards on 47 attempts.
Crain rushed for 154 yards on 16 attempts. Ford rushed for 89 yards on 20 attempts, and Anthony Hance rushed for 39 yards on eight attempts.
Ford completed four of eight passes for 32 yards. Crain caught two passes for 21 yards. Luke Kunz caught one pass for six yards, and Hance caught one pass for five yards.
Carter Edlen had six tackles, including one for a loss for the defense. Crain also had six tackles.
Arnold had five tackles, including one for a loss. Hance also had a tackle for a loss.
