West Central lost the first set but rallied to beat Griggsville-Perry 18-25, 25-19, 25-23 in volleyball Oct. 7 at Bluffs.
Griggsville-Perry scored the first point of the third set. The Cougars scored the next three points and take the lead.
Braylee Littig started the steak with a kill. Marissa Metz had consecutive service aces, and West Central led 3-1. They led 7-5 and scored seven straight points.
Kiara Sanders started the steak with a kill. Jackie Lashmett and Jada Lawson combined for a block, and Littig had two kills.
Littig had another kill, and Hallee Lawson had service ace to extend the lead to 16-6.
Griggsville-Perry got within 18-15 and 24-23 later in the set. The Cougars managed to get the win when Griggsville-Perry committed a hitting error.
West Central trailed 6-4 in the second set. Kloe Woods had a service ace and tie the set. Sanders had a kill and give the Cougars the lead.
Woods had another ace, and Sanders had a kill as West Central extended the lead to 10-6.
JJ Weber had a kill that gave West Central a 21-16 lead. Sanders and Littig each had kills, and West Central led 24-19. Lashmett scored a point on a tip, and the Cougars won the second set.
West Central won the junior varsity match 25-10, 25-20.
