A new radio-activated tornado siren was recently installed behind the newly acquired building adjacent to Bluffs Village Hall. The siren will feature a distinctive tone to differentiate tornado alerts from fire signals and will be tested monthly on the first Tuesday at 10 a.m. Donations toward the project include $2,500 from the Fire Department and EMS, and $1,000 from Roger Barnett. Coordination with Scott County 911 Dispatch will follow for testing and operational readiness. Illinois Rural Electric placed the siren. (David Camphouse/River County News)
