Friday night, Calhoun High School was the place to be and the loyal fans made sure to get their cars and trucks parked on the hill early in the week so they would have prime viewing to watch the undefeated Calhoun Warriors take on the Brown County Hornets.
The bleachers were packed and there wasn’t an empty spot along the fence. Fans of all ages came out, not just because it was senior night or future warrior night. They came to see the game of the season and the Calhoun Warriors did not disappoint.
The Warriors continued their undefeated streak while facing off against the Brown County Hornets with a 21-12 win.
Earl Elmore and Jake Brannan each scored on 1-yard runs in the second quarter and with two good kicks from Jack Goode the Warriors were able to take a 14-0 lead at the half.
Trey Fullerton scored in the third quarter for the Hornets while Brown County was able to keep the Warriors from scoring again until the fourth quarter.
Goode scored on a 28-yard reception from Earl Elmore in fourth and scored on the kick, while Jack Seffon scored on a 14-yard run for Brown County for a final score of 21-12.
“We’ve had a long hard week with lots of work. We made a decision. Injuries were not gonna be an excuse and we’re feeling good! No. 1 seeded in the South 9-0! I am so proud of you guys,” Warriors Coach Coach Elmore said. “We came, we played as a team and we are gonna keep playing as a team!”
Next Saturday the Warriors begin the Playoff Season at home against Villa Grove with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
