Got Faith Ministries and R Acres of Terror teamed up for the Halloween season to help ensure everyone stays warm as the weather cools down.
To celebrate “Socktober” and Halloween, R Acres of Terror opened for “No Tricks Just Tricks” with a lights-on walk where families could dress up and trick or treat with some of the scare actors.
With a pair of unopened socks or for $5, trick or treaters were able to get a treat for themselves while helping to make a difference for folks in the community as all proceeds went to those in need.
Steve Pegram, with Got Faith, said the event was a huge success with an unbelievable turnout.
“God bless the Root family for making a difference in Jersey County,” Pegram said.
Got Faith also received a surprise treat on Halloween with a large donation of $1,064 from tips collected by the Lake Westside Jammers, which will go to good use as they continue to feed and inspire the hungry as we head into the holiday season.
Next week, Got Faith will host local author Don Mathenia on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their location at 508 West Pine Street in Jerseyville.
Mathenia will be doing a book signing for his book “Love and Blood in the Heartland,” with sales and proceeds going to Got Faith, while guests also get to enjoy a free lunch of turkey and noodles, corn casserole, mashed potatoes, biscuit and dessert.
The book is described as a deeply personal body of work that reflects on Mathenia’s journey, “a walk through fear, love, sacrifice, and transformation, all set against the backdrop of America’s heartland.”
“This is more than a book. It’s the realization of a lifelong dream. It’s an invitation to stop, to reflect, and to see the world through the lens of beauty and purpose,” Mathenia said when the book was released earlier this year.
