Salvation Army kicks off Tree of Lights Campaign

The Salvation Army is kicking off the Fifty-second “Tree of Lights Campaign” in Jersey County. Fifty-one years of Tree of Lights Campaigns, countless volunteers, and over $1,434,80 raised at Christmas time is the heritage of the Salvation Army in Jersey County. Thank you to all the founders, board members, volunteers, merchants, churches, and patrons that contributed their time, talent and donations in the last fifty-one years.
Last year’s bell ringing campaign provided over $43,000.00 in cash donations, countless canned food items, and personal care products. This generosity has allowed The Salvation Army to help over 208 families with emergency financial needs, 1008 families with food assistance, 703 families with hygiene and products including soap and paper goods. These programs are funded through memorials, bell ringing, and donations throughout the year.
We will be ringing bells at Wal-Mart North and South doors (inside the entryway), Sinclair Foods, and Jerseyville Farm and Home Supply (inside the doors) on Fridays and Saturday each week. The hours for ringing will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. beginning Friday, November 14 through Saturday, December 20. That is twelve days or 48 eleven-hour shifts. If your organization is willing to help please select a chairperson and call 618-498-3166 or 618-946-2702 to schedule a time, date, and location.
