Ryker Ford and Nick Hamilton combined for 43 points to lead West Central to a 56-41 season opening win over Rushville-Industry Nov. 24 at Rushville.
The Cougars trailed 35-34 before they scored the last 10 points of the third quarter.
Ford made a three-point basket, and Carson Clevenger grabbed a rebound as the lead increased to 41-35. Hamilton made a three-point basket with 1 second remaining to give West Central a 44-35 lead after three quarters.
Ford made another three-point basket to start the fourth quarter, and the Cougars led 47-35.
Rushville-Industry led 13-11 after one quarter and 23-21 in the second. Clevenger and Ford both scored after grabbing offensive rebounds. Hamilton scored to give West Central a 27-23 lead. They led 30-26 at halftime.
The lead changed hands six times in the third before West Central took control of the game with their 10 point run at the end of the quarter.
Hamilton scored 22 points, including 14 in the first half, to lead West Central. Ford scored 21 points, including 12 in the second half.
Clevenger scored six points. Gabe Howard, Blayne Sidwell and Charlie Smith each scored two points.
West Central won the junior varsity game 59-35.
Thrice Kirkpatrick and Blaine Vortman each scored 12 points to lead West Central. Cooper Eddinger scored 10.
Emerson Little scored eight points, and Jackson Little scored six. Landon Wahl scored five points. Dax Littig scored four points, and Aydin Kessinger scored two.
