Orr Graduates from Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department is proud to announce the recent graduation of Chief Deputy Zachary L. Orr from the School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) at Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety.
Chief Deputy Orr successfully completed the intensive 400-hour Police Staff and Command program conducted at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. This comprehensive leadership and management course was established in 1983 and has since graduated more than 30,000 law enforcement professionals from agencies across the United States and around the world. Chief Deputy Orr was a member of Class #612.
The School of Police Staff and Command provides advanced college-level instruction designed to prepare law enforcement leaders for the complex challenges of modern policing. The program includes 27 core instructional blocks covering Leadership, Human Resources, Employee Relations, Organizational Behavior, Applied Statistics, Planning and Policy Development, Budgeting, and Resource Allocation.
Students in the program are academically challenged through written examinations, research projects, oral presentations, and the completion of a comprehensive staff study paper. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible to receive six undergraduate credit hours from Northwestern University.
Class #612 included command-level officers representing law enforcement agencies from Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Colorado, Montana, Kentucky, Florida, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Georgia, New Mexico, North Carolina, Virginia, and Idaho.
Chief Deputy Orr is the first member in the history of the Pike County Sheriff’s Department to attend and successfully complete this prestigious program. He distinguished himself as a top-performing student, graduating with an exceptional 99.5 percent overall grade average.
