Dr. Jason Brunaugh was named as the new Jersey District 100 Superintendent at the Board of Education meeting on Thursday, Dec. 18.
The board voted unanimously to approve the employment of Dr. Brunaugh as the Superintendent and said it will take effect July 1, 2027.
The board issued a statement on the district’s website and social media calling it a “full circle moment” for the district.
The full statement reads:
“The Jersey CUSD No. 100 Board of Education is proud to announce the employment of Dr. Jason Brunaugh as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2027. Dr. Brunaugh will succeed Mr. Brad Tuttle, who is set to retire on June 30, 2027.
The appointment marks a “full circle” moment for the district. A proud alumnus of Jersey CUSD No. 100, Dr. Brunaugh’s deep roots in the community have fueled a twenty-five-year career dedicated to the success of local students and families.
Dr. Brunaugh’s professional journey within the district began as a teacher at Jersey Community Middle School, followed by a role as a Digital Coach. Over the past decade, he transitioned into administration, serving as Principal at both Jersey Community Middle School and Jersey Community High School. Most recently, he has served as the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Human Resources.
Dr. Brunaugh earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Blackburn College in 2001, a Master’s Degree from SIUE in 2005, a Doctorate Degree and Superintendent’s endorsement from Maryville University in 2017, and completed the Chief School Business Officer endorsement from the University of Illinois Springfield.
For the next eighteen months, Dr. Brunaugh will continue his current duties as Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Human Resources. This transition period is designed to ensure a seamless leadership handoff, allowing him to work closely with Mr. Tuttle to prepare for Jersey 100’s next era of success.
