The Jersey District 100 Board of Education voted at the Thursday, Dec. 18, meeting to move forward with a School Maintenance Grant application that will go towards different projects at Jersey Community High School.
Cory Breden, Assistant Superintendent of Transportation, said it’s a 50/50 grant up to $100,000.
In the past the grant has been used for improvements throughout the district for things like bathroom updates, locker rooms, playgrounds and fencing.
The plan for this round of grant funding is to use the funding for improvements around Jersey Community High School and include upgrades to the greenhouse, painting the blue stripe along the exterior of the building and improvements to the gym floor.
The estimated costs were $20,000 for the greenhouse, which the maintenance crew will handle, $30,000 for the painting and $40,000 for the gym floor.
