The Calhoun Lady Warriors took fourth place in the Carlinville Tournament over the holiday break.
The ladies started the tournament off with a win against Carlinville, 39-36, as Bralyn Lammy led the Lady Warriors in scoring putting up 18 points against Carlinville.
They went on to face Nokomis who took a 44-28 win over Calhoun. The Lady Warriors kept things close in the first half of the match trailing Nokomis 10-7 at the end of the first quarter and 23-18 at halftime. It was a rough third quarter for Calhoun only scoring one point from the free throw line while Nokomis secured an extra 16 points for 39-19 lead over the Warriors at the end of the third quarter. The Warriors hit nine points in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough to take the lead and fell to Nokomis 44-28.
Calhoun battled Gillespie for the third place spot but fell 46-38 to place fourth in the tournament. Gillespie took an early lead in the first quarter, 16-5, and was able to carry their lead throughout the match.
Calhoun’s Lammy was named to the All-Tournament team.
