Nick Hamilton scored 29 points as West Central beat North Greene 70-39 January 10 in the first round of the Winchester Invitational Tournament.
The Cougars (8-8) play Calhoun Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
Hamilton made a long two-point shot and a three-point basket, and the Cougars led 5-0.
They led 20-11 after one quarter and outscored North Greene 27-6 in the second.
Hamilton made three three-point field goals in the second quarter. Landon Wahl scored eight points, and Blaine Vortman scored six. West Central led 47-20 at halftime.
West Central tied the team record with 12 three-point field goals in the game. Hamilton made seven, and Wahl made three. Cooper Eddinger and Leighton Smith each made one.
Wahl scored 11 points, and Vortman scored 10 for the Cougars.
Eddinger scored five points. Gabe Howard and Blayne Sidwell each scored four points. Smith scored three points. Carson Clevenger and Charlie Smith each scored two points.
Greenfield-Northwestern outscored West Central 21-16 in the fourth quarter and beat West Central 56-51 January 8 in Winchester.
The Cougars led 33-20 in the third quarter. Greenfield-Northwestern rallied and tied the game at 35 after three quarters.
Hamilton scored 16 points to lead the Cougars. Eddinger scored 12 points, and Vortman scored 10.
Howard scored seven points, and Sidwell scored six.
