It is reported that several farm owners between Fieldon and East Hardin have refused to grant right-of-way for the Fieldon-Hardin State Hard Road, known as route 38. Selection was announced last week by the state highway department of one of the several routes which were in dispute. It was asserted that contracts for the construction of the road would be immediately after right-of-way was secured. Hopes are expressed that the objecting land owners will reconsider their action in the matter thus permitting completion of the hard road without further delay. It is rumored that if the right-of-way is not soon secured the idea of building the road will be abandoned by the state highway department.

Members of the Calhoun CILA committee learned that property in Calhoun County had been located and identified as suitable for construction of a CILA home. Pat Devine with Community Living Arrangements informed committee members that two properties had been targeted, with one in particular looking extremely favorable for the home. Community Living Arrangements is a provider for CILA homes and established the first group home in 1984. The Calhoun CILA committee has been working on establishing a CILA home in Calhoun, preferably the Hardin area, for many months and are excited that things are moving along so well. The CILA home will house eight developmentally disabled adults (18 years of age and above) with seven of those potential residents already living in the county in private residences. Residents of a CILA home are carefully screened in order to identify all of their health needs and to ensure they are compatible.
