The 51st Annual Lady Hawk Invitational Tournament got underway Saturday, however, due to the impending snowstorm, the tournament had to be amended.
The way the schedule was made, there were four games scheduled for the morning session and four for the evening session. The first game of each session included the top two teams which had a bye, meaning there were only three games per session for a total of six games on Saturday.
With the last two games having scheduled start times of 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., the decision was made to move those two games to the grade school gym. Nokomis played Madison at 10:30 a.m. with Nokomis coming out on top, 86-21 and West Central defeated Roxana, 46-40, at Noon.
At the high school Marquette defeated Beardstown, 54-31, in the first game of the morning, followed by Granite City knocking off Lincolnwood in the Noon game. The 1:30 game had Greenfield falling to Father McGivney 52-24 and Jersey knocked out Calhoun 53-28 in the final game of the afternoon played at 3:30 p.m.
No. 1 seed Liberty and No. 2 seed Carrollton both received bye’s and were scheduled to play on Tuesday.
