The Winchester girls’ 10U team recently watched an IC (Illinois College) Girls’ Basketball game in Jacksonville. The girls were so excited while watching from behind the bench that Coach McCormick invited them to join a practice.
Coach McCormick and the IC girls’ team ran them through several intense drills. The coach also emphasized the importance of teamwork and mastering the fundamentals. Some of the most vital elements include having heart and personal drive while learning and perfecting the basics.
The team players, which have become fast friends, includes Harleigh Thompson (3rd grade), Skylar Suhre (3rd grade), Keatynn Dorwart (4th grade), Ava Maul (4th grade), Leah Feikert (4th grade), Jentry Dolen (4th grade), and Gabriella Thompson (5th grade).
They have been practicing for a few weeks; during that time, they have learned the rules, court awareness, and fundamentals. These young ladies are putting in the effort to become a skilled and fundamental team.
They will start the Bill Pool League on January 31st and will also attend clinics while participating in AAU and other tournaments. They are coached by Lexxus Goodwin and Ray King.
