The Jerseyville City Council approved a few board appointments and provided an update on the citywide trash services at their regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
During new business, the council accepted Joseph Susnig’s retirement letter from the Cemetery Department as he plans for his last day on April 3.
Mayor Kevin Stork read the retirement letter in which Susnig stated that after thoughtful consideration, he decided to move forward the decision and thanked the council, Bob Manns, Jason Jones and Brandon Purcell.
The council thanked the Susnig for his 36.5 years of dedicated work to the City of Jerseyville, and he received a round of applause from those in attendance at the meeting.
“We appreciate it Joe,” Mayor Stork said while recognizing how Susnig was always looking out for the city.
Council also approved some appointments and resignations from various boards.
Laura McNicholas was appointed to the Library Board of Trustees with a term expiring in June of 2027, filling the unexpired term of Matt Derrick.
Connie Hayes was reappointed to the Planning and Zoning Board with a term set to expire in April of 2027.
Scott Woelfel’s resignation letter from the Fire Pension Board was also accepted by council.
In other business, council approved a letter of support for the Great Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau as the State of Illinois Certified Destination Marketing Organization, approved bills in the amount of $501, 519.86, approved the previous meeting minutes and Mayor Stork provided an update on the citywide trash services.
