The John Wood Community College Ag Center in Pike County recently announced the 2026 inductees to its Agriculture Hall of Fame. Three educators with deep ties to the Ag Center, located just outside Perry, were inducted as the 2026 class.
Glenn Raines, Lynn Curry, and Dr. Jeff Galle were all recognized for their professional achievement or with their contributions to the JWCC Ag program in various ways.
Raines, who resided in Mt. Sterling was instrumental in establishing the Orr Research Center, where he served Western Illinois farmers for 25 years, retiring in 2003. Glenn was instrumental in pairing John Wood Community College and the University of Illinois in partnership to create the Orr Education and Agriculture Center in Pike County, Illinois. He then taught classes part time for John Wood Community College for several years before fully retiring. Raines passed away at the Illinois Veterans Home in January of 2025.
Curry, of rural Griggsville, served in an administrative capacity at the JWCC Ag Center, where she welcomed between 60-100 students, and their parents, each year for over 20 years. Curry serves on the Board of the Orr Corporation, which owns the property on which the Ag Center is located. She and her husband Kim have a beef operation and farm many acres in Pike County, where Lynn is integral in helping organize all aspects of the farm operation.
Galle, of Pittsfield, served as longtime Director of the JWCC Ag Center. He got his start teaching in the JWCC swine management program. Galle has been involved in all aspects of the Pork Producers organization at the local, state, and national levels, having served as the President of Pike County Pork Producer then moving up the ranks to become the President of the Illinois Pork Producers Association. Galle served as a delegate for several years and eventually ran and was selected by the Pork Producer delegates, and then appointed to the National Pork Board by the United States Secretary of Agriculture in 2006 and served until 2009. Galle was selected to lead the Ag Business program at Illinois College in 2020 and continues to work and teach at IC.
