The cool start to the Grafton Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday morning, March 28, didn’t slow anyone down as happy children raced to collect the candy-filled eggs at Red Hawk Park. Big smiles and sticky fingers declared the annual event a huge success. At 11 a.m., parents gathered with children ages “birth” to fifth grade who were all eager to hunt for the brightly colored eggs and fill their Easter basket with sweet treats. Each age group participated at their own pace, from toddlers just learning the ropes and being guided by parents to older children expertly tracking down the eggs. The Easter Bunny is always a favorite furry friend and despite his height, he was welcomed with hugs and high fives by “smaller and taller.”
This much-anticipated event is sponsored by the Grafton Community Outreach Committee chaired by First Ward Alderwoman Donna Smith. Chris Petrea works with Donna on the Children’s Committee and oversees the many details that bring laughter and fun and create fresh egg-hunting memories for all ages. Donna said, “This year, we were glad to see more upcoming toddlers and ‘youngers.’ These events are always a big success thanks to Chris.”
Mayor Morrow said, “Thank you to Alderwoman Donna Smith, Chris Petrea and the Outreach Committee for another wonderful family-centered event. This is always a great way to welcome spring.”
