The Pikeland Unit 10 board of education met April 15 and filled many coaching and extra-curricular openings. .
Jimmy Sanderson was hired to coach the Lady Saukees in the 26-27 school year.
Sanderson will be the program’s fourth coach in five years, but, has experience coaching the girls.
He coached this year’s sophomore class in junior high, leading them to two state championships and a record of 55-0.
He also coached the boys varsity basketball program, as an assistant to Brad Tomhave, earning back-to-back-to-back, regional titles.
Also hired for the Lady Saukee team was Brooks Allen, as volunteer assistant coach.
In boys basketball, Brad Tomhave was re-hired as varsity coach, with Jordan Cawthon returning as junior varsity coach and Scott Bacon as freshmen coach. Wayne Smith will be the volunteer assistant.
Jack Palmer was re-hired as boys golf coach at the high school with Stetson Martin leading the girls on the greens. Tiffany Sanderson will be the assistant girls’ coach.
Hannah Abdelkodous was hired as assistant volleyball coach at Pittsfield High School and John Peterson was re-hired as wrestling coach. Derek Oitker will be the assistant wrestling coach.
Dalton Barnes was re-hired as Saukee football coach and assistant coaches, Kurtis Botgatske, Eric Naughton and Derek Yelliott. Mason Pherigo and Mason Kaufmann will split an assistant coaches position.
Volunteer coaches for the Saukee football team will be Jeremy Davidsmeyer, Taylor Kaufmann, Caleb Dixon, Jaoh Fahs, Trevor Zumwalt and Brady Kaufmann.
Zach Ferguson was rehired as Saukee baseball coach and Dodson McPherson and Jerred Heinz as volunteer assistant coach, for the PCS boys baseball team.
At the grade school, Steve Rylander will coach the boys basketball team assisted by Chad Ruzich and David Marable. Keenan Yelliott will coach the girls junior high team, assisted by Matt Sealock and Rob Cook will coach the junior high wrestlers, assisted by Levi Waters. Hanna Abdelkodous will coach the PCS girls volleyball team and John Neupauer will coach the PCS girls softball team.
Michelle Hart will be the volunteer coach for the Pittsfield High School swim team.
Resignations included Sydney Himmelman as head coach for the high school volleyball team and as assistant coach for the high school girls basketball team; Adam Singler, has head coach forbids track and field and cross country and Jill Cook as assistant coach for the PHS volleyball program.
Regan Davis will return as Saukette coach and will be assisted by Julie Boylen. Ashley Bradley will be back with the cheerleaders.
Educational personnel matters included accepting the resignations of Debbie Barton as special education teacher, Susan Aebel, as Spanish teacher at PHS, Sydney Himmelman, as mathematics teacher at Pittsfield High School and Adam Singler as mathematics teacher at Pittsfield High school.
New hires included Ryan Benz as assistant superintendent, Becky Amann, summer access paraprofessional, Eric Naughton, summer worker, Ashlyn Havens, Title 1 teacher, Zoey Myers elementary teacher, Alex Suhre, special education teacher, Taylor Orwick, elementary teacher, Daelynne Butler, Tonya Douglas,Trent Webb, Alicia Watkins, Lisa Leppert, Noah Mendenhall, Sarah Pines, Emily Pursley, all as full-time, long-term substitutes and Cathy Wilson and Sarah Pines as full-time, short term substitutes.
