Dallas Surratt won the 110 and 300 hurdles, and Carson Clevenger won the 200 to lead West Central at the IHSA Class 1A Boys Track and Field Sectional May 20 at Rushville.
The Cougars finished fourth overall as a team with 77 points. Rushville-Industry won the title with 95 ½ points. Pittsfield was second with 87, and Camp Point Central was third with 80.
The top two individuals in each event, and those that met state qualifying marks advanced to this weekend’s state championships in Charleston.
Surratt won the 100 hurdles in :15.38 and the 300 hurdles in :41.18. He finished seventh in the high jump at 1.75 meters
Clevenger won the 200 in :22.38.
West Central won the 4×100 relay in :42.94 and the 4×200 relay in 1:30.77.
Liam Melson, Clevenger, Beau Donovan and Blayne Sidwell each ran in the 4×100 relay. Clevenger, Donovan, Brady Engelbrecht and Sidwell ran in the 4×200 relay.
Melason finished second in the 100 in :11.18. SIdwell finished fifth in the 200 in :11.21 and qualified for state on time.
Gabe Howard finished third in the shot put at 13.67 meters and tenth in the discus at 37.14.
Braden Newingham finished fourth in the 3200 in 11:36.09. He finished 17th in the 800 in 2:27.33 and 19th in the 400 in 1:02.97.
Aydin Kessinger finished seventh in the discus at 40.22 meters and 18th in the shot put at 10.63.
Brody Lawson finished 12th in the 200 in :25.34. Brennan Kingery finished 23rd in the 400 in 1:05.26. Orion Anderson finished 26th in the 800 in 2:59.07
