The Greenfield Public Library is one of the most active libraries for children in the area. Last week they brought the popular Llama Llama for a visit and this coming Monday, June 15, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. the Quincy Children’s Museum’s Mobile Museum is coming for a visit.
“The museum staff will be bringing a variety of fun activities for the children to take part in,” Library Board Chairman Amy Turpin said. “So, dress them in their play clothes and comfortable shoes for an afternoon of activity.”
A few of the items that will be included in the mobile museum are:
■ A keystone arch building set.
■ Sensory bins.
■ A coin vortex (bring along some spare change to send through it.)
■ Games to challenge fine motor activities.
■ Dramatic play opportunities.
■ Magnetic activities.
■ And, new this year – Bubbleology – The Bubble Blast.
The Quincy Children’s Museum received its non-profit status in February of 2020 with founding board members Amy Peters, Emily Reuschel and Chris Dye, along with others in the community, creating and adopting a mission, vision and core values in August of 2020.
The museum was founded to spark curiosity, joy, creativity, engagement and connection for all children and their families. Through unique learning opportunities, hands-on experiences and dynamic community partnerships, it is their mission to fulfill this purpose.
It is their mission to transform the lives of children and families through experiences that inspire curiosity, connection, creativity and discovery.
The Quincy Children’s Museum proudly participates in “Museums For All,” a nationwide initiative that expands access to high-quality museum experiences for all families.
Because not everyone can travel to the museum itself, the mobile museum was born. This museum travels to schools, libraries and other locations to give children the opportunity to experience just a fraction of what is in the actual museum while still inspiring curiosity, connection, creativity and discovery through a variety of activities.
If the weather cooperates, many of the events will be set up in Veteran’s Park, located directly across from the library. However, if Mother Nature wakes up in a bad mood, events will take place inside the library.
