Grafton Launches “Every Home, One Flag” Patriotic Challenge Ahead of Independence Day
What if every home in Grafton proudly displayed the American flag?
That simple yet powerful question sparked a new community initiative designed to unite the city in a visible celebration of patriotism ahead of Independence Day.
The idea began with Grafton resident Michael Goetten, inspired by conversations with his daughters, Dylan and Audrey. Wondering just how patriotic their hometown could become, Goetten approached Mayor Michael Morrow with a bold vision: challenge every household in Grafton to proudly fly the American flag.
Mayor Morrow immediately embraced the idea. Together with his wife, Lynne Morrow, the Mayor committed to personally purchasing fifteen, high-quality American flag kits for the Goetten’s children to jump-start their program.
“This is about more than decorating our homes,” said Mayor Michael Morrow. “It’s about honoring our country, recognizing the freedoms we enjoy, remembering those who have sacrificed to defend them, and showing what it means to be united as a community.”
Taking the initiative one step further, Michael Goetten has volunteered to personally deliver and install the flags at no cost for any resident within the City of Grafton who wishes to participate.
“This started as a conversation with my daughters,” said Goetten. “We wondered what it would look like if every home in Grafton proudly flew the American flag. I believe it would send a powerful message—not only to those who live here but to everyone who visits our beautiful town.”
The initiative is being supported by the National Memorial of Military Ascent as a meaningful way to honor America’s military heroes while encouraging civic pride throughout the community.
Residents and businesses interested in participating are encouraged to act as soon as possible so flags can be installed before Independence Day by purchasing their own flag and displaying it or contacting City Hall to get a donated flag to display.
Imagine driving through Grafton and seeing street after street lined with American flags—a visual reminder of the freedoms we cherish and the men and women who have defended them throughout our nation’s history.
The organizers hope this challenge will inspire neighbors to come together in a shared display of patriotism and perhaps even become an annual Grafton tradition.
For more information or to request a flag installation, residents are encouraged to contact the City of Grafton or the National Memorial of Military Ascent.
