Brussels American Legion Post 685, Auxiliary members, and Mayor Emily Fortschneider with the assistance of the Brussels Girl Scouts joined in a nationwide wide initiative Sharing the Spirit of America.
On July 8, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was read to the people of the United States of America. Now 250 years later Americans in all 50 states, District of Columbia and outlying islands. Joined together simultaneously at 6 p.m. Eastern time. To read aloud the declaration of independence.
Brussels Legion members presented the colors and the Brussels Girl Scouts led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Brussels Legion members gathered together as legion member Richard Greenlief, Auxiliary members Mary Lee Rose, Sarah Kinder and Mayor Emily Fortschneider each read a page of the declaration. Sarah Kinder then led everyone in the singing of God bless America.
