Pikeland Unit 10 signs contract with teachers

Pikeland Unit 10 and the Unit 10 teachers agreed to a two-year contract. The agreement was finalized at the July 22 meeting of the Pikeland School Board.
The contract calls for a four percent raise for each year of the contract which runs from Aug. 1, 2026 through July 31, 2028.
The district will pay 100 percent of the teachers’ insurance for the teacher, pay $125 for classroom supplies for each certified teacher, and for each full-time, Pikeland Community School certified teacher in D-POD, ( sixth through eighth grades) that takes an overload class, that teacher will receive a $2,640 stipend to account for the overload.
Overload classes are assumed by teachers in exchange for their planning period.
“The contract also addresses bereavement days and some other things,” Tara Bradshaw, board president, said. “The D-POD teachers have the greatest number of students per day, the greatest amount of instruction and the least amount of prep time as any group in the district.”
The board also approved handbooks for the upcoming school year, approved the destruction of several closed minutes reports from previous meetings, set the yearly building tour for Aug. 14, approved a nursing contract with Maximum Healthcare, approved the purchase of a driver’s ed car at a cost of $25,000 and also approved new carpet at PCS at a cost of $3,408 from Buck’s Decorating Center of Godfrey, plus, another $4,124 fro NH Installs.
Personnel decisions made at the meeting include; accepting the resignation of Sydnee Heatherly as full-time paraprofessional effective, July 20 and John Neupauer as assistant coach for the Pittsfield High School softball team.
Hirings included Dalton Barnes as business teacher at Pittsfield High School for the 26-27 school year, Zoey Myers a a full-time, long-term substitute for the 26-27 school year and Autumn Clendenny as a full-time bus paraprofessional depending on the completion of all license requirements.Also hired were Jill Cook as assistant coach for the PHS softball team, John Neupauer as volunteer coach for the girls softball team and Jessie Roberts, assistant coach for the PHS volleyball team.
Overloads for Pittsfield High School included: Scott Bacon,Michelle Bigley, Ali Moffit and Mark Still for one overload for the year. Zach Ferguson, Kindra Phillips and Callie Wassell for two overloads for the school year.
