Nov. 13, 1924
Allen Inman is moving his stock of merchandise from the Perry corner to the south rooms of the Odd Fellow’s hall in Hardin, where he will continue to carry on his mercantile business. The Perry corner has been sold to Wm. Talley, but we have not yet learned what business will be carried on there. Some one has remarked that a hotel is likely to open there.
Nov. 10, 1949
During the last few days thousands of pounds of pecans have been brought into the local market at the Corbett Store, as this year’s pecan harvest gets underway. The crop this season is said to be very good and it will mean a lot of additional income for many folks who live near the bottom grounds on both of the rivers.
Nov. 7, 1974
The August share of state income tax collection has been distributed to the county and municipalities. A total of $4,565.68 was paid to all governmental units within Calhoun County. $2,921.16 was paid to the county government for the month and $10,192.16 has been paid during the fiscal year.
Nov. 10, 1999
Twenty-five teachers, staff members, and residents attended the meeting to learn of the progress made on the new consolidated elementary/junior high school on Thursday, Nov. 4. Architect Paul Lunsford of Lunsford Baysinger Architects, Inc. of Marion displayed three drawings so the group could better visualize the site and floor plan. “All we’ve done is taken some programming surveys from the staff and administration and created a floor plan,” Lunsford said. The goal is to describe the spaces from the survey documents received. Now the building will be designed based upon conversations and shared comments. The purpose of these meetings is to make any corrections on the drawings.
