Phyllis E. Bushnell | 92 | Carrollton

Phyllis E. Bushnell, age 92, of Carrollton passed on to be with her heavenly father, Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025 at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Oct. 6, 1932 in White Hall, the daughter of Cleatus and Celia Freer Reynolds. She married Paul Bushnell May 27, 1955 in White Hall and he preceded her in death November 6, 2018.She is survived by four children, Julie Cleveland of Wesley Chapel, FL, Molly (John) Montgomery of Carrollton, Phillip (Diana) Bushnell of Jacksonville, Kurt (Beth) Bushnell of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Ross Cleveland, Todd Surratt, Jenna Copeland, Tiffanee Peters, Tanna McCutcheon, Tawni Hoskin, Collin Bushnell, Carlee Clark, three step grandchildren, Althea Gyde, Casey and John A. Montgomery; 11 great grandchildren, Owen, Braxton, Camden, Kolton, Journee, Jagger, Noah, Charlie, Sadie, and Brady, four step-great grandchildren, Wesley, Lillian, Katheryn, James, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; step-grandson, Troy Montgomery; a sister, Betty Van Gerpen; and a brother, Richard Reynolds.
She graduated from Alton Memorial Nursing School and started her career in Nursing at the White Hall Hospital and retired from Boyd Hospital in Carrollton after 44 years of nursing. She was a member of Greene County Home Extension. She served as a 4-H leader for several years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and meeting with her retired nursing friends and lifelong friends every month.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Airman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton with burial to follow at Carrollton City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Berdan Baptist Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
