Linda Lee Mahlandt | 80 | Collinsville

Linda Lee Mahlandt, 80, of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1945, in Hamburg, IL, to the late Loami and Eva (Hunter) Booth. On June 6, 1986, she married the love of her life, Joseph Nicholas “Nick” Mahlandt, who survives.
Linda dedicated her life to caring for others through a distinguished nursing career that spanned more than 26 years. After earning her Registered Nursing degree from Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey, IL, in the early 1970s, she began her career with a passion for compassionate patient care. She later advanced her education by earning a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, specializing in Mental Health Nursing.
Throughout her career, Linda developed extensive expertise in medical-surgical nursing and adolescent mental health nursing, providing both specialized and rehabilitative care to countless patients. Her knowledge, professionalism, and dedication led her into leadership positions, where she served as a charge nurse, overseeing nursing staff, coordinating patient care, and ensuring excellence in clinical practice.
The role Linda cherished most was that of Nurse Educator. For many years before her retirement, she devoted herself to mentoring and teaching future generations of nurses. She took great pride in sharing her knowledge, clinical expertise, and unwavering compassion, leaving a lasting impact on the many healthcare professionals whose lives and careers she helped shape.
Outside of her profession, Linda embraced life with enthusiasm. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing tennis, and found great joy tending to her flower gardens. Above all else, she treasured the time she spent with her family, creating lasting memories with those she loved most.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by three brothers, John Booth, Gene Booth, and Gary Booth; and two sisters, Lela Foster and Patsy Forgey.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Joseph Nicholas “Nick” Mahlandt of Collinsville, IL; her two sons, Mark Sconce of Anna, IL and Bradley Sconce (Diane) of Bethalto, IL; her two daughters, Michelle (Sconce) Davis-Peters (Scott) of Minooka, IL and Shellee (Mahlandt) Clamp of Edwardsville, IL; eight grandchildren, Corey Davis of Bloomington, IL, Michael Peters, Joey Peters, and Maddie Peters, all of Minooka, IL, Jake (Allison) Sconce of Fenton, MO, Jessie (Tim) Viola of Columbus, IN, and Taylor Clamp and Emmerson Clamp, both of Edwardsville, IL; five great-grandchildren, Eli, Isaiah, Annabelle, Owen, and Connor; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
In accordance with Linda’s wishes, she will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The date, time, and location will be announced when arrangements have been finalized.
