Beverly Darlene Reif | 88 | Eldred

Beverly Darlene Reif, age 88 of Eldred, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Jerseyville Manor. She was born May 22, 1936 in Athensville, the daughter of James and Grace Saye Duckwiler. She married Sidney Dale Reif June 14, 1958 in Athensville and he preceded her in death March 27, 2018.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Don) Reif-Ranger of Eldred, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Karl Dale Reif; her siblings, James, Thomas and Charles Duckwiler, Helena Rimbey, Irene Edwards, Edna Hopper, Ethel Motley-Hines-King, Grace Eyer and Idella Bettis.
Beverly attended Memorial Medical Center School of Nursing in Springfield Illinois and graduated in 1957. She married Dale Reif in 1958, and they began their farming life together in Eldred. She worked part time as a nurse at Boyd hospital for a few years, then assumed the role of full time homemaker, farmer and volunteer. Beverly was always proud of all her roles. She attended Eldred Baptist church and was a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent for most of her 60 plus years there. She volunteered for the area food pantry, the Red Cross Blood drives, and any other church, 4-H, or school activity. Beverly always had a smile on her face and often shared that smile with others. She never said No to anyone that asked for her help, advice, or just needed to talk. She was also always open to prayer, and would often say to someone Can I Pray for you, your family? She was never turned down for a prayer, and often said “There are a lot of things I cannot do, but I can always pray.”
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Eldred Baptist Church. The burial followed in Carrollton City Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be suggested to Carrollton Senior Citizens Center or Carrollton Food Pantry.
