Mary Ann Mountain | 77 | Quincy
Mary Ann Mountain, age 77, a resident of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Illinois and formerly of Perry, Illinois passed away at 5:35 am on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the Illinois Veterans Home.
Mary Ann was born Sept. 25, 1947, in Beardstown, Illinois the daughter of Louis A. and Mary Florence Radinger Henrick, of Mt. Sterling, IL. Mary Ann graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1965 in Mt. Sterling. She married Lyndel “Bill” Mountain at the Mt. Sterling Methodist Church on Nov. 7, 1965, and they made their home in Perry, IL. Bill preceded Mary Ann in death in 2021.
Mary Ann was a member of the Perry Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #37. She enjoyed cooking, making cakes for weddings and birthdays, catering special events, and crafts. Her greatest joy was spending time with Bill, their children and grandchildren, and the Mountain and Henrick families. She kept her family close and organized and prepared the food and agenda for many successful family reunions. She had the gift of hospitality and gave generously of her time and efforts to community events in Perry and at the Illinois Veterans Home. In July 2023, the Illinois American Legion Auxiliary awarded Mary Ann the Unit Member of the Year for her volunteer work at the Illinois Veterans Home.
Mary Ann and Bill have four children who survive them – Roger Mountain (Kitty) and Paula Burge (Billie) of Mt. Sterling, Robert Mountain (Andrea) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Kevin Mountain (Melissa) of Perry. They are also survived by 12 grandchildren Billie, Greg, Chris, Faith, Danielle, Ryan, Presley, Walter, Derrick, Zachery, Aidan and Zoey; and 15 great grandchildren. They have 3 great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary Ann has six siblings – John (wife, Remy) Henrick, David (wife, Anne) Henrick, Barbara Alohoete, Julie (Bruce) Bullard, and Nancy (Carl) Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Mattie (Warren) French, as well as Bill’s parents, brothers and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Billie Burge officiating. Those unable to attend are invited to watch the service live on her obituary page of the funeral home website, hendrickerfuneralhome.com.
Burial will follow in the Wilson Cemetery in Perry, Illinois.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
