A Greene County man has been sentenced to two years in the Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a charge of Aggravated Battery, a Class 3 Felony.
Brandon L. Cathers, 31, was sentenced in Greene County Circuit Court on Oct. 27 by Greene County Circuit Court Judge Zachary Schmidt.
The conviction stems from an incident that occurred on Jan. 7, 2024, in which Cathers knowingly committed a battery against an on-duty emergency medical services personnel performing official duties.
Cathers entered a guilty plea to the charge on Feb. 7, 2025.
Grummel expressed his appreciation to all agencies involved in the investigation and prosecution of the case.
“The defendant’s actions endangered a public servant who was providing emergency care,” Grummel said. “This sentence reflects our office’s commitment to protecting those who dedicate their lives to helping others in Greene County.”
Grummel also thanked the Carrollton Police Department and all first responders whose professionalism contributed to the successful prosecution of the case.
