As of this writing, we in Pike County Illinois are experiencing a taste of winter with cold temperatures and cold breezes. (At least this gets rid of the asian beetles.)

Sunday afternoon, Nov. 30, the Detroit Christian Church will be hosting a Hymn Sing starting at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. We attended the last one of these, and besides being well attended, the congregational singing all those wonderful precious hymns was just beautiful.
Research has revealed that those who have less stress in their lives — a byproduct of peace, forgiveness, reconciliation, and spiritual power — enjoy these rewards:
1. Fewer illnesses, doctor’s appointments, need for medication, and overall health care expenses.
2. Fewer repairs on appliances and machinery. Apparently when we are at peace on the inside, we use machines with more precision and patience. We break things with less frequency.
3. Fewer automobile accidents. When we are feeling peace and harmony with God and man, we are less aggressive and more careful in driving. From the book TEA TIME WITH GOD.

Pray….very simply PRAY!!! There is power in prayer. So take time out of your busy day, and pray. A few prayer requests that I know of would be for Sharon Straus, Sue Yackley, America, and we have an unspoken request.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any many should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8, 9, 10
Wednesday evening, Nov. 5, Jamie and I enjoyed having my grandson Wess Davis up for supper. Enjoyed a good meal and a lot of visiting.
The Big River Band had a wonderful show at the Courtyard Cafe Saturday evening, November 8. This was one of their best shows. It was well attended and everyone seemed to enjoy being there.
Does anyone else miss the “good old days”? Growing up in a simpler time was wonderful. My parents and I would “neighbor” with other families which means we would either go to their house or they would come to ours, and while the adults would visit with each other, maybe play a game around the table, the kids would play and use our imaginations a lot. Eating our meals around the table and visiting about our days was such a nice way to end our days.
Isn’t it totally amazing when God answers prayers without even praying?!
