The Fall trees are beautiful, and the weather during the week was brisk in the morning but warm and sunny until evening with a chilly breeze in the air. It is duck, and deer hunting season and the hunters are out in the county. There aren’t any church events planned this weekend. Calhoun High School Warriors played Greenfield at Calhoun on. Saturday, Nov. 8. The score was Calhoun 22 and Greenfield 14.and was won in overtime making it very exciting, and amazing! There were over 3000 fans there! Calhoun will play again next Saturday at Casey, IL. Let’s keep the spirit going with another win.
The Batchtown Fill Inn Station has been serving the local Calhoun folks and our out-of-the-county hunters. There has been a lot going on in Batchtown. The Fill Inn Station specials during the week are Thursday evening after 4 p.m., and Sunday after 12 p.m. the special fried chicken, and two sides, on Friday after 4 p.m. the special fried buffalo sides, fritters, or cat fish side, and two sides, and on Saturday after 4 p.m. their special one pork chop, and two sides, or two pork chops, and two sides. They also have a full menu to choose from. Stop by and enjoy the food.
Elaine Titus and her son, Brian, visited their Aunt Juliann Underwood on Friday afternoon. They all enjoyed their time together.
Marcy Klockenkemper attended the Jerseyville Deanery Meeting at St. Michael Catholic Church in Greenfield Thursday. The Mass was at the church, and the meeting, and lunch was held in the Church Hall. A speaker from the prison ministry and how they helped the people there was discussed in small groups. A sharing table, future events, and the date of the next meeting were announced for future reference.
Linda Russell visited Judy Lamer Friday at her home in Jerseyville. After shopping, they ate lunch at Nick’s Restaurant. They enjoyed the day.
Jana Sievers and her children, and grandchildren are putting up Christmas Lights this weekend at their home in memory of Tony Sievers who passed away earlier this year. It’s a Christmas tradition that Tony and Jana loved. Now, Jana and the family want to share the beauty of the Christmas lights again with the community.
The American Restaurant on the TV Food Channel interviewed the staff and Sara Heffington, and Laurenn King at the Riverdock Restaurant Thursday, Nov. 13. The woman conducting the show, and the camera man and crew made it an exciting day for the staff, and customers there. Details of when the show will be shown will be in the paper as we receive it.
A Volunteer Appreciation Day is being planned by the St. Vincent DePaul Society on Nov. 17 at the KC Hall in Hardin. Volunteers are an important part of our ministry. We hope that all the volunteers attend. Anyone wanting to volunteer is welcome to call or come into the facility to sign up on a Wednesday. The address is 105 French Street, Hardin, IL. Saturday, Nov. 1, William Rose turned 21. The family went out to eat at the Southern Coastal Cuisine in Grafton Saturday. The family there were: parents Brad, and Anna Rose, William, Bradley, Nicholas, and Emma, grandmother, Marilyn Klockenkemper, Greg and Rosemary Barczewski, and Jackie and Henry. All had a good time celebrating William’s birthday. On Sunday, all the family listed above celebrated William’s birthday with Uncle, Paul and Aunt Joan Klockenkemper, and cousin, Becky and her daughter Olivia Klockenkemper. at Kinder’s Restraint in Golden Eagle. A great birthday William! We wish you a happy year..
The Christmas lights in Batchtown are being put up by Brenda Sievers and her crew of helpers. The lights will be turned on the Saturday after Thanksgiving at the Town Park, and the streets of Batchtown. It will be a beautiful sight.
The Batchtown Woman’s Club will meet for their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 19. The ladies will have their business meeting and make a list of residents who have lost a family member or have been ill themselves. Members will purchase the fruit, and will bring cookies for the December Meeting for the Fruit baskets. The members will plan a morning get together for the Dec. Meeting. We traditionally have Christmas Brunch together at the Fill Inn Station before we make the baskets and deliver them. We all enjoy going to the homes and visiting them.
Tori Keeton (Muniz) and husband Julian Muniz from Houston, TX. are visiting Batchtown and staying at the Keeton residence. Tori is the daughter of Dennis Keeton, and she and her husband are enjoying their visit. They were having breakfast with Cousin Madison Keeton who told us about his recent trip to Japan. Madison said that he had recently enjoyed a trip to Japan and would like to go back again sometime.
The Girl Scouts will help with a Veterans Luncheon at the Lutheran Hall at St. Matthew’s Church in Brussels Tuesday, Nov. 11.
The Cornerstone Church meets for their Sunday Service at 10:45 a.m. The Bible Class is every Wed. at 9 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
