Mid fall colors are fading, and many of the local school’s business, and organizations honored Veterans-on-Veterans Day. The Calhoun Warriors are in the playoffs with a win undefeated 12-0 with the win on Saturday, Nov. 15, with Casey – Westfield. The score was the Calhoun Warriors 28-2l. Great job Warriors! This coming Saturday, Nov. 22. At 1 p.m. The Warriors will play Brown County.in the Class 1A Semifinals. We are down to the final four.
The St. Vincent DePaul Society will honor their volunteers with an Appreciation Supper at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hardin on Monday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m. All volunteers are welcome. The recent St. Vincent DePaul Society Fund Raiser was a great success. They will be able to help with food, and other necessary items for the coming year, and will continue to help with the needs requested on the hotline. Unexpected and unsure events can always happen. Your donations and volunteer help will always be needed. Thank you for your support.
The Batchtown Woman’s Club will meet this coming Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Fill Inn Station at 6 p.m. They will begin with supper followed by the meeting. The Club members welcomed the new members who have joined. They plan on going to the lighting of the decorations at the Town Park, and the street Lights throughout Batchtown on Friday, Nov. 28, the Friday after Thanksgiving. The members will also finalize the list of Batchtown residents who will receive Fruit Baskets from the Club this Christmas. Each member will bring fruits and cookies for the fruit baskets. A date and time to make them, and a Christmas Brunch together at the Fill Inn Station before delivering them is planned.
We are happy to announce the Wedding of Alexis Klocke daughter of Brad and Cindy Klocke of Batchtown, and A.J. Hillen son of John and Sue Baalman of Hardin. They were married Saturday, Nov. 15, at the McCully Heritage Project in Kempsville, with a wedding reception and dance at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hardin. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Hillen.
The final mass for St. Michael in Michael, IL. Will be held on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. A gathering for Michael parishioners and those who grew up in Michael will be held at Illinois Riverdock immediately following mass. (Dutch Treat.)
Visitors to the County at the Fill Inn Station in Batchtown were Gus and Ruth Eschbach, and Oliver Eschbach, all from Jerseyville. They were visiting with relatives in the Golden Eagle area and were enjoying the ride through Calhoun County on a pleasant Fall Day.
The Play,” Arsenic and Old Lace” will be presented by the Calhoun Entertainment Company at the Center of American Archeology, (The Old Kempsville Gym) on Nov. 21 – 22 at 7 p.m., and Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. Come and enjoy the show!
The Cornerstone in Batchtown will have the Singing Sunday Service on Nov. 30th. It is held during the month with five Sundays in the month. The Sunday Service is held at 10:45. The Bible Class is held every Wed. at 9 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

DIY Christmas Tree Wreath Workshop is being held Nov. 30 at The Rastello Room starting at 1 p.m. Leave with a beautiful, handmade wreath. All materials will be provided. Come and have joy and fun while creating a beautiful Christmas Wreath. Light snacks will be provided. Bring your own drinks if you would like. Only 50 tickets are available. Each ticket is $10. Remember, all materials will be provided. Call and make reservations to make a beautiful wreath for the holidays.
A surprise Birthday Party was held Saturday, Nov. 15 for Paul Klockenkemper who celebrated his 90th Birthday at the Rolling Hills Golf Course. His wife, Joan, and daughter Kathy and husband, Matt Gagnepain surprised Paul. His brother John, and wife Eula Mae Klockenkemper, and sister-in-Law, Marilyn Klockenkemper, Niece, Rosemary Barczewski husband Greg Barczewski, and Jackie, and Henry, Niece Anna Rose, husband Brad, and Bradley, William, Emma, and Nicholas, and Niece, Rebecca Klockenkemper, and Olivia, and friends, and relatives enjoyed a good time with Paul, and a delicious meal and birthday cake. Paul grew up in Batchtown, and has many relatives, and friends, who wish him a happy birthday, and a wonderful year.
Emma Rose, a senior at Calhoun High School, has been chosen to be on the Jacksonville Select Volleyball Team. It’s an honor to be on this team. We look forward to seeing them play.
Elaine Titus and son Brian Rose visited Elaine’s Aunt, Julieann, home in Bethalto. Her niece JoAnn Berg was also there. They all enjoyed visiting and playing cards together.
VeraAnn Klockenkemper visited Linda Russell Saturday and gave her a picture of their school days at Mount Victory School in Batchtown. Linda and sister Judy was in the school picture. They enjoyed the visit and seeing the picture.
Calhoun Eighth Graders won 1st Place at the St. John’s Tournament Saturday. Luke and Rochelle Hillen are coaches on the team. Congratulations girls. Have a great season!
