Calhoun Warriors football took the entire community on the ride of a lifetime. If you weren’t at Calhoun high school at the football field on Saturday, chances are you were watching it on TV at one of our bars in the county or in the comfort of your home, but you were definitely tuned in. It wasn’t the outcome we had hoped for, it was a game that kept you on the edge. Falling short in the last seconds. But I personally know this team and I can tell you as someone who has gotten to be right down there on the sidelines with them through every game, had the pleasure of cooking their game day meals during regular season. You just would not find a better group of kids. They shine both on and off the field and I am so glad and proud that I got to go along with them for the ride. I’d also like to give a shout out to the wonderful cheerleaders who are also some great girls and I’d like to thank them for inviting me to the cheer brunch on Saturday morning.
Calhoun Entertainment Company presented Arsenic and Old Lace this past weekend at the Center for American Gym. Directors Lindsey Watters and Ellie Nolte and stage manager Lindsey Taul did a great job. The entire casting crew were amazing. The cast kept everyone laughing throughout the whole play. It was so entertaining. If you missed it, you definitely missed out. Great job to all. Calhoun Entertainment Company will present their Christmas concert Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Presbyterian Hall. The Spring musical in March will be Annie.
St. Anselm’s Game Night December 6.Doors open at five games begin at six. The menu includes chicken and dumplings, hot dogs, chick Salad, chips and a dessert.
I’ve already began working on baskets, raffles and prizes for the kids Christmas party December 14 at the Center for American Archeology Gym.
Sympathy to the family of little David Johnson who passed away this past week please keep his mom and dad, Marcus, and April in your prayers as well as his grandparents and siblings.
Sympathy to the family of Ed Benz. Ed was an active part of our community for many years. He was on the Calhoun ambulance for 25 years and every year he would help fry fish for the fireworks and for the FireDepartment at Old Settlers Days. He was an active member as well at St. Anslem’s and served on many community boards. As well as being chosen, the Grand Marshall for the Calhoun County fair parade he along with his wife were also the grand marshals for the Kampsville Summer Celebration parade he was an amazing guy. Please keep his wife Willian, and his children and grandchildren in your prayers and continue prayers for Connor Gilman, Billie Jo Eickmeyer, Kurt Roth, Joyce Blumenberg, Mary Ann Gress, Diane Rose, Sue Aderton, Stella Shultz, Darci Albrecht, Kathryn Chapman, Isabel McGlaughin, and Lisa Watters.
