What a cold day yesterday, only reached 28 for a high and morning low was 22. Saturday I woke up to big flakes of snow coming down and it continued for the majority of the day. Sounds, and looked like the total in this area was 5-1/2 inches. Other areas received a lot more, Kampsville 7 inches, Edwardsville 8-1/2 inches, Pittsfield 10 and Springfield, 11-1/2. Way too much already and the first day of winter isn’t until Dec. 21. At least Thanksgiving Day was a nice day for travel, as well as Friday.
I’m a bit belated but Congratulations to the Calhoun Warriors on their spectacular Football Season. Twelve wins and only one loss, what an incredible year for them.
I drove to Chesterfield, Mo. to spend Thanksgiving Day with Trevor and Cyndi Axford and Mackenzie. Also joining us for a wonderful dinner of turkey and all the trimmings were David and Madison Morrow. Later in the evening we enjoyed pumpkin and pecan pie and watched a great movie called “About My Father”. I stayed overnight and us three gals did some Black Friday shopping. Then back to their house for a late lunch, packed up and headed home. Thanks again to the Axford’s, I really enjoyed my time with all of you.
The rest of my family went in different directions. Dennis and Shelly Scherer drove to Festus, Mo. to enjoy turkey dinner with Daniel and Brittney Holdinghausen, Samuel and Elliot, stayed over on Friday and returned home on Saturday night. John, Julie and Caleb Carnes picked up their daughter Hannah at St. Louis Airport Monday morning as she arrived from Chicago and drove to Lake of the Ozarks. There they enjoyed a few days together until Hannah had to return home on Thursday night. John, Julie and Caleb remained at the Lake and returned home on Sunday.
Yvonne Baecht hosted Thanksgiving dinner for the majority of her family. Present were Keith and Becky Baecht, Samuel and Becky’s mom Sue Underwood from Jerseyville and Daniel and LeAnn Baecht and Connor of Brookline, MO. Due to the weather forecast, her daughter Lynette and Matt Eberhardt of Chenoa, IL were not able to attend. The birthdays of Becky and Daniel were also celebrated while they were here.
Last weekend Joey and Chelsie Kiel, Stevie, Charlie, Toby and Mary enjoyed visiting Grant’s Farm in St. Louis to see the Holiday Lights, visited the farm animals and fed them, rode the Merry-go-Round and enjoyed all the beautiful light displays.
Last Monday, Nov. 24, Fred Kuhn drove to Festus, MO to attend Grandparents Day. Due to Debbie’s recent knee replacement surgery, she was unable to make the trip. Their grandson, Barrett, is in the second grade and attends Plattin Primary School. My great grandson Samuel Holdinghausen is in the 4th grade and goes to Telegraph Intermediate School in Festus where his grandparents, Shelly and Dennis Scherer also attended Grandparents Day there the same day.
Birthday Blessings this week to Elaine (Hagen) Mans, Susan Rose, Gracie Klaas, Sharon Friedel, Stacy Ralston, Angie Williams, Shane Macauley, Bob Kiel, Rosie Wreath and all others celebrating their natal day at this time.
Happy Anniversary to Dave and Mary Kirn, Vince and Caroline (Burch) Stegman, Paul and Mary Lou Goetze and all other couples celebrating their wedding anniversary this week.
John and Kelley Heffington, Brantly and Graceyn, Brady Ellis and fiancee Melissa Whipple and Melissa’s mom, stepdad and brother spent Thanksgiving week in Riviera Maya, Mexico. They all enjoyed celebrating Brady’s 27th birthday on November 29 and the wonderful warm weather while they were there.

May our preparations bring glory and honor to You, and may our focus be on preparing our hearts for Your second coming. Please fill the hearts of those who may not be prepared with the gift of saving faith in Jesus, our Savior. Amen
