Bobbie ‘Jean’ McGuire | 85 | Carrollton
Bobbie “Jean” McGuire, age 85 of Carrollton went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025 at her residence. She was born Jan. 1, 1940 in Provo, KY, the daughter of Carl and Veta Southerland Hawes. She married Donald “Mac” McGuire Aug. 7, 1965 in Carrollton and he preceded her in death Nov. 14, 2008.Jean, a 1958 graduate of Carrollton High School, left for the big city and attended Brown’s Business School in St. Louis. She landed a secretarial position at Arthur Andersen in downtown. After marrying Mac and becoming a mother, she added the title of Avon Lady to her resume. She continued this for another 54 years up until the end. Jean also worked at the Carrollton Public Library for over 20 years.
As a Jaclyn of all trades, she was a gardener, cook, seamstress, avid reader, tech-whiz, Wordle Enthusiast, and music lover – especially Elvis Presley. Her dad even drove her and a friend to St. Louis to see Elvis in concert at Kiel Auditorium on her 16th birthday!
She loved Jesus, her family and friends, a good piece of pie and conversation. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Jean is survived by two daughters, Kim (Bob) Herdler of Webster Groves, MO, Kathy (Andrew) Mullins of Kirkwood, MO; three grandchildren, Jon (Salena) Herdler, Joe (fiancé Emily Healey) Herdler, Jimmy (Abby Pointer) Herdler; and two great-grandchildren on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Sue Weinberg; and two infant brothers, Carl Jr. and Howard Hugh Hawes.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton with burial to follow in Carrollton City Cemetery.
