Well the temperatures have frozen the river and the Kampsville Ferry is closed for now. Of course, when the ferries closed, those guys just aren’t sitting still. There’s a lot of work that they have to do on the side to keep everything running smoothly. They are all hard workers and a great crew.
Speaking of hard workers, a huge thank you to Jarod Gibson and crew, Kenny Johnson, Jeff Sidwell , Paul and Blaize Klunk for cleaning the roads here in Kampsville. It’s very much appreciated.
Of course, with the snow and the cold temperatures came a few problems. Sunday morning had all of us in Kampsville trying to decide if our pipes were frozen or if there was a bigger problem. Mayor Amanda immediately got on it and our water guy Dustin Neese braved the bad roads and headed our way. The problem was found at the water treatment plant and quickly fixed. It did take a little while for the water to get back through the lines but not more than 30 minutes or so. We were basically only without water for a bit. It could’ve been much worse and we were very fortunate. However, anytime the water is off. We have to be on a boil order until testing can be done and it’s lifted. It is just precautionary. By the time my column comes out it might even have been lifted. Please check the Village of Kampsville Facebook page for updates.
On Friday Sheriff Zach Hardin was sworn in by Judge Charles Burch as Sheriff of Calhoun County, his daughters pinned his badge on him. Sheriff Hardin is stepping into some big shoes but I think he will do a great job. Congratulations Sheriff Hardin.
Anslem’s Game Day will be held March 1st Doors open at 12 games begin at 1. St. Anslem’s will also be raffling Quilts that were quilted by Judy Benz, Cecelia Hayn, Helen Vetter, Sherri Klunk and Maymie Petrowski. Tickets are available at the back of St. Francis of Assisi Church and the Bank of Kampsville, Kampsville location. The quilts are currently on display at the bank.
The FFA also currently has their Strawberry sales going on orders are due by February 20 and will be delivered the first part of March. Anyone needing to place an order and don’t know an FFA member shoot me a message or give me a call and I will get you with a member and get your strawberries ordered.
