Jersey’s Lady Panthers beat the Calhoun Lady Warriors 5-2 last week in five innings.
The Panthers took a one-run lead in the first inning and brought in four runs in the fifth inning to secure the win before the game was called due to weather.
The Warriors had a 2-1 lead as the Panthers took the plate in the fifth inning, and as the rain started to come in the Panthers were able to drive in four more runs while Anabel Eilerman held the mound for Calhoun.
Eilerman threw four strikeouts for the Warriors, and Paxton Weirich had four strikeouts for the Panthers while sharing the mound with Jena Pegram, who pitched two strikeouts.
Both the Warriors and the Panthers went on to secure wins later in the week.
Calhoun took an 18-0 win over Routt with Riley Pohlman and Layla Longnecker sharing the mound and Conley Klocke going 3-4 at the plate with three runs and one RBI, Longnecker was 2-2 with three runs and Caroline Adams was 1-1 with two RBI.
Jersey took a 16-4 win over Civic Memorial with Weirich on the mound as Chloe Beemer went 3-3 at the plate with a walk, Holly Brainerd was 3-4 with two doubles and nine RBIs and Maleah Derrick was 3-4.
