Marisa D. Lawson, 37, Barry is lodged in the Pike County Jail after being charged with home invasion, a class X felony, residential burglary, a count 1 felony, aggravated battery ( victim was a person over age 60 years of age), a class 3 felony, residential burglary, a class 1 felony and aggravated kidnapping, a class X felony. Only the charge of aggravated battery is probational. The remainder have mandatory Department of Corrections terms.
The incident allegedly happened May 4 at 5:44 p.m. when Lawson entered the foster home where two children were living.
According to court records, Lawson bit, pulled hair, scratched and slapped the foster mother and forced two children aged, 15-years-old with severe intellectual disabilities, and a 12-year-old to get in her car.
Lawson is then alleged to have taken the children to Monroe City, Mo. to the home of a friend. Illinois Law Enforcement assisted by the Monroe City, Mo. police department were able to retrieve the children and arrest Lawson.
Lawson is lodged in the Pike County Jail with her request for pre-trial release denied. Nicholas Fregeau has entered his appearance has her attorney. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 26.
