Anthony Hance allowed three hits over five innings and West Central beat Greenfield-Northwestern 3-1 May 11 at Greenfield.
The Cougars trailed 1-0 before they tied the game in the fifth inning. They scored two runs in the sixth inning and took the lead.
Blaine Vortman walked with one out in the fifth inning. He scored on a two out hit by Corbin Arnold.
Tucker Arnold doubled to lead off the sixth inning and scored on a single by Thrice Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick scored when Vortman reached on an error.
Hance allowed one unearned run while allowing three hits. He walked two batters and struck out six. Kirkpatrick allowed one hit over the final two innings. He walked two batters and struck out three.
Tucker Arnold went 2-for-3 with a double and scored one run.
Kirkpatrick went 1-for-3, scored one run and drove in one run. Corbin Arnold went 1-for-3 and drove in one run. Preston Adams went 1-for-2, and Vortman scored one run.
Three West Central pitchers held Unity to one run, and the Cougars earned a 6-1 May 13 at Mendon.
The Cougars scored two runs with two out in the third inning.
Tucker Arnold singled, stole second and scored when Thrice Kirkpatrick doubled. Kirkpatrick scored when Ben Bangert singled.
Unity scored a run in the bottom of the third inning. West Central led 2-1 before they scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Arnold doubled to lead off the inning, and Kirkpatrick received an intentional walk. Both runners advanced when Hayden Johns had a sacrifice bunt. Ban Bangert received an intentional walk to load the bases.
Arnold and pinch runner Emerson Little both scored when Blaine Vortman reached on an error. After a strikeout, Bangert and Vortman both scored when Corbin had reached on an infield single.
Bangert allowed just two hits and one unearned run over four innings. He walked three batters and struck out four. Johns allowed two hits and walked two batters in two innings. He struck out one batter. Kirkpatrick struck out one batter in one inning.
Tucker Arnold went 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Corbin Arnold went 2-for-4 and drove in one run. Johns went 2-for-3.
Bangert went 1-for-2, scored one run and drove in one run. Kirkpatrick went 1-for-3 and scored one run. Vortman went 1-for-4 and scored one run. Emerson Little scored one run.
