Make sure you are in White Hall this Friday evening, June 26, early to get a ring-side seat for one of the best parades in the state – the 87th Annual White Hall Lions Club 4th of July Parade. The parade will begin at 7 p.m.
The White Hall Lion’s Club has set their Hometown Celebration for June 25-27, with three days full of fun and excitement for all ages.
Lions Club President Kelsey Hazelwonder says while every year is special, there is something a little more special about this year.
“This year is extra special as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday – the Semi quincentennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence,” she said. “So, get ready for some good old-fashioned hometown fun.”
The festivities kick off on Thursday, June 25 at 8 a.m. with the Firecracker 3V3 Basketball Tournament on the new basketball courts in Whiteside Park that were recently finished late this spring.
Festivities at Lion’s Park begin at 5 p.m. with Connor Family Amusement Carnival firing up the rides. While the kiddos are riding the rides, the parents and grandparents can enjoy a feisty game of Bingo and enjoy some food from the Lions food tent. There will also be vendors set up in the park beginning at 5 p.m. as well.
At 6 p.m. all attention will turn to the Main Stage in Lions Park where the pageant will be held.
Then, on Friday, June 26, food sales will begin at Greene Elite on Main Street at 11 a.m. and run until parade time at 7 p.m. After the parade, food will be available at Lions Park.
The parade will begin at 7 p.m. and the theme this year is, “Happy Birthday America.” Come early and stake your claim for a seat as chairs hit the boulevard the evening before the parade for the serious parade goers.
Vendors will have their wares for sale at Lions Park beginning at 5 p.m. and going till 10 p.m. and Bingo will run from 8 p.m. till 9:30 p.m.
For your musical entertainment, “Rooster the Band” will take the stage from 8-10 p.m.
Get a good night’s sleep, cause festivities start early on Saturday, June 27, with the “Stars, Stripes and Strides 5K at Lions Park beginning at 8 a.m.
Connor Family Amusements will fire up the rides beginning at noon and running till 4 p.m., take a break until 6 p.m. and then run from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Bingo afficionadoes can play from 1-3 p.m., take a slight respite and then come back for the 5-8:30 p.m. session.
Vendors will be open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
The entertainment moves to Custer Park (White Hall Rez) at 2 p.m. for the Cardboard Boat and Kayak Races.
Kiddos of all ages will love the newest rage – the Foam Party, sponsored by Brantzels, that will from 4 to 4:30 and then again from 5 to 5:30.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Stomping Ground will be on the stage and then at 9:30, or at dusk, whichever comes first, the fireworks will begin.
The drawing for prizes will follow immediately after the fireworks have concluded.
